Engineering drugs like designing iPhones

Engineer a drug like we would design a new iPhone. Hi, my name is Jacob Oppenheim. I am a venture partner at RA Ventures, the incubator arm of RA Capital. There's one business model that succeeds in biotech, and that's making therapeutics. Curing people of disease is enormously valuable and will continue to be enormously valuable. An AI biotech that has a thesis on how they can develop drugs and make better therapies is one that's gonna get funded. One that does not have that business model, it's gonna be much trickier. I think AI is a part and parcel of a series of changes in the biotechnology industry that are making it feasible for us to engineer biology in a way that is unprecedented and never known before. Today, we can be focused and come in with a clear objective and try to actually engineer a drug like we would design a new iPhone or design a bridge. AI is a key piece of that, but it goes alongside many other technologies.
